NUDCCW Convention
The 51st Annual Convention of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women was attended by 284 participants reporting $125,000 in dues and contributions.
Dr. Janet Smith, Keynote Speaker, ……..
- pray to the Holy Spirit and He will guide you in what to do or say in situations
- a christian lifestyle witnessed to by christian families is in itself a form of evangelization
- young people want an example of an intact marriage
- a family helps us form our conscience
- always do what your conscience tell you – trusting your conscience is not based on what you think rather the law which God has written on your heart. Pope John Paul II’s Veritatis Splendor contains a definitive discussion about conscience in sections 54-64; number 64 particularly speaks to this point.
- God’s voice is a lovely voice not a condemning voice; negative and critical voices are not God.
- ask God to let you hear His voice – spend time in prayer to ask God – then stop and listen by shutting all other voices.
- Good Discipline, Great Teens by Dr. Ray Guarendi
- strong marriages - Work On Your Marriage
- education of children via family meals and prayer, pilgrimages, Catholic Schools and shrines
- Did Adam and Eve Have Belly Buttons? by Matthew J. Pinto
- Jesus wants to heal us because He’s a Savior, He saves. Go to confession. He wants to take away our hurts just like we want to take away the hurts of our children
NUDCCW Women of the Year – Cloe Klinkner
Audrey Prokosch, incoming President, began her term by leading the council in prayer……Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.
O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
