Hi Dear Friends –
Here is information I received from one of my Arch/Diocesan CCW Presidents in Region One. It is information that I feel is really important to all of us and I would like to share with all of you. Some of this information was also included in the diocesan update I just received from our Diocesan Pastoral Center. We need to voice our objection to the removal of conscience protection for our health care providers to our legislators!

Congress is open to our comments regarding conscience protection until April 9th. The simplest way to respond is to e-mail congress now for the sake of all nurses and doctors that will be caught up in this. Our foundations are teetering.
Also, please forward this to your friends.
Thanks ~Ann~
Public comment period on removing conscience protections for health care workers is now open.
President Obama’s proposal to rescind a policy that protects the conscience rights of health care workers has now been formally published in the Federal Register, thus opening the 30-day period available for public comment on the proposal. Pro-life groups in the United States are urging concerned citizens to voice their concerns.
You may submit electronic comments on this regulation to Regulations.gov or via e-mail.
To submit electronic comments go to Regulations.gov and click on the link “Comment or Submission” and enter the keywords “provider conscience”. (Attachments should be in Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, or Excel; however, Microsoft Word is preferred.)
See “Provider Conscience Regulation” Cardinal George

Please take time to voice our objection to the removal of conscience protection for our health care providers to our legislators!
The USCCB has set up a special site including a link to the National Committee for a Human Life Amendment, where comments can be e-mailed directly to the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Thanks and God Bless!
Donna Sanders
NCCW Vice President – Region 1

President-Elect – Audrey Prokosch
Audrey Prokosch and her husband Steve have been married 30 years and have 4 children, Stephanie-28 (married to Scott), Melanie-26, Ashley-22 and Justin-18. They also have one granddaughter, Ellie. They live on a farm between Wabasso and Redwood Falls and are actively involved in farming. Audrey has been a licensed hairdresser for the past 30+ years and owns her own salon, Mainstreet Hairstylists, in Wabasso.
Audrey is active in her local community where she has lead committees and has served as the president of the Wabasso Commercial Club. She is also involved in a local hairdresser’s club, where she has served as local president, local secretary, as well as a regional delegate for the State Hairdressers’ and Cosmetologists’ Organization.
One of Audrey’s biggest passions though, is the church community. Audrey is active at St. Anne’s Church in Wabasso, where she serves as a lector, extraordinary distributor of communion, and has been a CCD teacher for 10 years. She has been an energetic leader at St. Anne’s, where she served as past president of the CCW and was Community Concerns Commission chairperson for their local CCW chapter. Audrey is completing her second year of President of Region II CCW and has also served as International Concerns Commission Chairperson for the Region.
Audrey and her family have hosted three foreign exchange students three of the past four years. The students were from France, Germany, and Italy. Two of the three students joined the Catholic Church while they were living with the Prokosch’s. In her spare time, Audrey and her family like to participate in the local Riverbend TEC program. She also likes to spend time with her new grandbaby Ellie, play cards and board games, visit family, and when the weather allows she enjoys gardening.

2nd Vice-President – Mary Schmitz
Mary is a member of the Church of St. Raphael in Springfield. She has been married to Leo for 42 years and has four married children and 12 grandchildren. Mary is a cantor, member of the choir, rosary leader, and member of the liturgy committee. She leads a prayer group monthly, and helps count the weekly offertory collection. Mary currently is employed full time by the City of Springfield as manager of the Community Center. CCW has been a large part of Mary’s life for the past 5 years. She currently serves as 2nd VP on the Diocesan Board and is liaison for the Diocesan Pastoral Council. Mary has studied Jeff Cavins ‘Bible Time Line’ and is currently working through ‘Revelation.’ She enjoys watching EWTN, flower and vegetable gardening, crocheting, baking, playing bridge and, of course, spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Treasurer – Charlotte (Lottie) Kottke
For the past nineteen years, Lottie has lived in Glencoe and has been a member of St. Pius X Parish. Before that, she lived in Hutchinson. Lottie works for the Hutchinson School District where she has been employed for 32 years. At St. Pius X, Lottie has been teaching in the Religious Education Program for eight years. She has taught 8th Grade, 11th Grade, and 9th Grade, As a member of CCW, Lottie completed a four year term as Region VI treasurer and is currently the NUDCCW treasurer. Lottie lost her husband thirteen years ago and has two grown sons. They currently work in the area and live at home.
